Life? Don’t talk to me about life…

(Marvin the Paranoid Android, in ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide’, in case you’re interested)

Last November I managed to rupture a tendon in my finger merely by tucking in a blanket (moral: there is something inherently wrong with the whole concept of housework.)

It never healed properly, and causes great problems in things that really matter, like typing up notes or lifting down gurt heavy ledgers in the archives. Not too good when it comes to the little boring necessities, either, like lifting a full roasting dish out of the oven.

Last Friday I managed to twist my spine by falling over the cat (before you ask, the cat is okay: this is the first thing that anyone asks.)  And bruise my shoulder and elbow and other parts of my anatomy that at my age are never normally on display.  Not good for spending hours over a red hot keyboard or lifting down gurt heavy ledgers in the archives.

Then the rusting heap of wreckage that is laughingly known as our car failed its MOT: and the only way I managed to get the Significant Other to remember my birthday was via a subtle note on the calendar (for which see below – and then he got the day wrong anyway).

So, today I may update my website:  or do some online research:  or on the other hand I may crack open the birthday bottle of gin and rewatch a Sherlock video.  Or two.  Or all of them. Normal service may be resumed next week.

Decisions, decisions.  Now, where did I put the tonic water?

 A subtle note:
