…and the first post of 2013…

and may I wish you all a happy and productive 2013.

I spent the first few days of the New Year reading through my notes and deciding which branch of my tree I want to concentrate on over the next twelve months.  This will, I’ve decided, almost certainly be my Frost/Bate/Guest line from Kingswinford, Staffordshire – if these surnames also occur in your tree, please get in touch!

In a few weeks’ time I hope to be co-tutoring another Beginners’ course so – although the last course has not long finished – I’ve also been busy checking various websites for new sources.

And finally, I spent yesterday in my local Archive doing further research for my coffee-mill maker project.  At present I’m concentrating on one particular manufacturer, George Fieldhouse & Co.  This seems to be taking me towards the stage where I’m going to have to see what information still exists about the company itself, as it appears that George’s son-in-law Thomas Jackson continue to run the company for some fifty years after George died.

Researching into company history is a relatively new area for me:  I’ll let you know how it goes!

All this, and it’s still only the Fourth of January!
